Grown trees can be harvested from the bonsai pots for drops specific to that tree. There is also an automation feature called hopping bonsai pot which drops the items into the inventory placed below the pot. You won't get as many materials as you would from a full grown tree but you still get a small portion. It adds bonsai pots that allow for growing trees within two vertical blocks.
